A January 1 headline from the New York Post reads “Bill Clinton to be unmasked as ‘Doe 36’ and identified more than 50 times in Jeffrey Epstein doc dump.”
Thirty years ago, “America’s first Black President,” was the fresh faced, 47 year old, Caucasian, saxophone playing southern governor, Bill Clinton.
America was in the middle of a years-long celebration of a victory over the Soviets after the Cold War and Americans were promised “a peace dividend.” The presumption was that since the Cold War had ended, the massive Cold War spending by Washington DC could now come to an end.
Instead, the exact opposite happened: hot war, hot war, and more hot war, both foreign and domestic, and for the next 30 years, while government grew larger and penetrated almost all areas of life. The US government came to penetrate life even in ways that the Soviets never succeeded at.
They appeared to look for any excuse to perpetuate the Cold War apparatus.
Before Clinton was out of office, the post-Cold War administrative state had not shrunk but grown and it turned its attention from surveilling Soviets to surveilling AND attacking Americans.
In some ways it went from a Cold War on the Soviet government to a hot war on the American people.
While American intelligence chief George H.W. Bush would not lead the country after being voted out in the 1992 election, his influence through the security state he helped establish was monumental. Most Americans did not realize that instead of Bush, a corrupt and blackmailed man who would prove all too close to pedophiles and perhaps even be a rapist and pedophile himself would lead the country as that lovable southern Bubba, Bill Clinton.
Perhaps one day, a political thriller will be written on the premise “What if Ross Perot had won in 1992?” That might be a good one. In the real world however, the political establishment got exactly who they wanted: either Bush or Clinton.
Either the former CIA chief or the heavily compromised lovable southern Bubba.
It’s six of one, half a dozen of the other — which is to say “two options are virtually the same; there is no difference between two possibilities; it does not matter which alternative you choose — the outcome will be the same.”
The intelligence agencies of the Western world appeared to have run honey pot operations intended to ensnare politicians and potential politicians, including the American CIA run by George H.W. Bush — father of president George W. Bush and Jeb Bush — an important figure for decades of establishment Republicans.
As 2024 comes to a start, the further unmasking of President Bill Clinton as a rapist and child predator becomes increasingly likely. Today, January 2, the first Epstein documents pointing to Clinton as a child predator (one of 170 powerful figures are to be released).
The same article states, “The documents are not expected to implicate Clinton in any illegal activity, ABC reported.” And that is fine.
I do not expect the document drop to be the shot heard round the world.
It is likely to be a step toward justice for victims, a step toward better understanding the role played by the most elite politicians on the globe, the role played by international intelligence agencies across borders.
Accordingly, that is not the thing that can make January 2 so special.
If you put your faith in America or in politicians, a day like January 2 may be a rocky and destabilizing day for you. If you put your faith in God, this day may be little more than a reminder that God is where your faith belongs.
America was good because it represented an experiment in freedom built upon faith in God. I believe America still can be that.
I believe the only way we return there is by returning focus primarily to God. If that is where your hope is founded, a sound and virtuous America naturally follows. If all you can do is focus your attention on the whims of politics and politicians, you are likely to feel unmoored in such difficult times.
That is done one person at a time.
Bill Clinton may have had you fooled. Hilary Clinton may have had you fooled. George H.W. Bush may have had you fooled. George W. Bush may have had you fooled. That was the past. A better day is ahead.
An unmasking is ahead. A cleansing is ahead.
You can allow that to leave you despondent about being lied to, feeling a sense of hopelessness about what that has to do with life, perhaps even be left with a perpetual depression around life.
The Bible seems to indicate, at times subtly and at other times openly, such behavior in political leaders in other periods of history. The reading and re-reading of the Bible, lends itself to understanding such details. It lends itself to having a more solid understanding of human tendencies — which do not change as much as one might think. It lends itself to having a more solid understanding of God.
This week, I am embarking again on a year-long re-reading of the Bible, in bite sized daily pieces, a reading which will come to a conclusion at the end of 2024. Join me in that daily reading by visiting 55hours.org.
Also take the next step and join me in the online group. There are several options for joining.
The step I invite you most to take is to join yourself and to also invite interested friends.
One way to do that is for $200, I invite you to enroll yourself and as many people as you wish to in that same online group over the year ahead. It is an “all you can eat,” option of sorts, only it is an all you can eat option for you and everyone you know.
My goal is not to make money. My goal is to host a growing online community that each of us can turn to for encouragement.
I write you to help me grow that online community.
Last year some people each gave memberships to dozens of eager friends and family and colleagues in the online Bible group this way.
Sign up at 55hours.org. You will be part of the free daily email list of Bible readings. Follow the prompts after that to sign up for the online group and to also invite as many friends and family as you wish.
January 2 will be a day to remember. That I have no question of.
It won’t be because of Bill Clinton or George Bush.
But it is the action that you take in your own life that will make it most memorable.
That is how January 2 will be a day to remember.
