I Still Celebrate Mike Pence For This
Judas Pence, on January 6, 2021, played along with the steal of the 2020 elections and would not insist the state legislatures have more time with the election results. He could have refused to allow the process to move forward.
But for those who find that too extreme of a maneuver, it is worth noting that Pence also had a great deal of influence in such a moment to demand accountability in other ways — from back room meetings that never took place, to phone calls to state legislatures that never took place, to advocacy in the media that never took place. A motivated and creative Vice President could have made that a moment for a national conversation on election integrity.
Instead, he played his role in the steal and accordingly, deserves the name Judas Pence.
He wanted to be out of that administration and it showed. A man seeking to fully honor the gravity of the presidential election process would have behaved so very differently.
A Heroic Thing That I Remember Him For
At the same time, I will not forget that he publicly refused to comply with the nonsense of the mask hysteria. Yes, he did so much stupid stuff around Covid as chair of The White House Coronavirus Task Force, but wearing the mask was one thing he would not do that I really appreciated.
I suppose he either knew masks did not work (a less likely option for Pence to stand on) or he agreed to walk alongside Trump and make public appearances mostly unmasked. This was a glimmer of truth for me from a White House that was missing the mark in so many ways.
Only once did I see media footage of Trump in a mask. Often, Pence was shown unmasked. I was so grateful for that then and I remain grateful of that today.
He Took Heat For It, Which Is Normal For The Media
Here is an MSNBC report lambasting Pence for being unmasked at Mayo Clinic. These treatment of anyone who behaves like an independent thinker and heroic is predictably responded to by the media with a struggle session: a “comply or we will persist until we break you down” style struggle session. This tendency by the media betrays the common Marxist or Maoist power dynamic that key media decision makers espouse.
Contextualizing The Bravery
The MSNBC report above took place on April 28, 2020. On April 3, 2020 the CDC had implemented mask guidelines. As of the date of me writing this, on December 14, 2022, it is still very difficult for many in the United States to walk into a hospital or even a doctor’s office unmasked and to receive service.
It was quite a stand in late April 2020 for Pence to go unmasked and I applaud him for doing so, especially in those very dark days in which tyranny, control, fear, so powerfully seemed to dominate this land.
Others Were Brave At The Time On The Mask Topic Too — Such As Scientists Writing For The CDC
It was not long after that, in May 2020, when the CDC’s own peer reviewed journal of epidemiology called masks ineffective, basing that on the 14 randomized controlled trials that had previously been done on the topic. I write more about this here — “Reminder: The CDC Says Masks Don’t Work.”
That is what the science said then and what the science has always unequivocally said, regardless of the effort of political hacks to confound that clarity for the advancement of their own agenda.
Do I Expect More From Pence? — Yes.
Would I have liked more from Pence? Yes. Much more. But sometimes when I see the illegitimate Biden in a mask, I remember the legitimate administration which kept its figureheads unmasked. Whatever their reason for being unmasked, I saw a glimmer of truth in that behavior.
I even saw bravery. In the face of what seemingly everyone, everywhere appeared to fall for as such a frightening virus, we had the optics of a world leader refusing that approach.
Now, what he did on the corona task force helped usher in the very darkest period ever in American history, so my praise for Judas Pence (and President Trump) only goes so far, but I am still grateful for him not wearing the fear mask.
This vaccine, after all may have contributed to the death of Ivana Trump this past summer, a topic I dig into more here: Frankenstein’s Monster: Did The Shot Kill Ivana?
I Need More From You Too
Now from you, I need a much higher standard.
It is no longer April 2020. It is impossible at this point to claim total ignorance — more so if you are here reading this.
The mask is a lie.
The mask does not help prevent the spread of a respiratory virus. The mask is harmful in fact — both on those who wear it and those who have it worn around them.
The mask must be resoundingly rejected by you, both in your own life and the wearing of the mask in your presence must be rejected, just like any other lie.
That is what I ask of you today — to resoundingly reject the mask and to call out that lie in every corner of your life in which it still lingers.
If you don’t know how to stop wearing the mask, in each and every situation, read the bestselling “Face Masks In One Lesson.” If you don’t know why, to never wear a mask again — each and every time — then read “Face Masks Hurt Kids.”
