In many traditional households, mother spends more time with the children handling many of the pressing concerns as they arise, while father is turned to in order to deal with matters that require a little less detail, such as administering discipline in more severe matters.
Also noticeable in many households: The arrival of father in the home brings with it a different air of authority, as does the presence of father in the home.
Even in the “anything goes” parenting style of the present era, there is an authority to the father who is masculine, while there is a sensitivity to the mother who is feminine. The feminine does not lack authority and the masculine does not lack sensitivity, but there are tendencies in each that are almost impossible to miss.
Sunday night, I spoke to a man who frightens the local officials like no one else.
He is the candidate they would most like to have lose.
They have all kinds of reason they will give in public — doesn’t show decorum, isn’t very polished in his delivery, too conservative, doesn’t understand how politics works.
The truth is only one thing: he gives off that no-nonsense, old school, masculine vibe.
Every objection about him comes from that. Because if he were elected to the local governing board it would suddenly feel like daddy were home.
It would suddenly feel like the usual nonsense could not be pulled.
This is a very powerful and frightening effect on exactly the people who need to feel that fright of authority and is a comforting effect on exactly the people who need to feel that comfort of authority.
With a man like that in such an important local role, the public will know they finally have empowered a defender of their community to make sure the nonsense stops. With someone like that in office, the full time employees know that they cannot run government wild the way they have. They simply can not do that when there is someone like that sitting on a board overseeing them.
The very presence of a man like that in a meeting creates some unease for all the people who should feel unease. They do not like to feel the presence of authority. They like to think that they are the authority.
They are not. The public has authority over them. The elected public officials are subject to the authority. The unelected career bureaucrats are subject to that authority. They are not the authority. He is a reminder of that.
Accordingly, when a masculine with a sense of authority walks into the room, they do not like.
And that is exactly as it should be.
Realizing how common sense it is to have such a presence on the local board, the bureaucratic jackanapes must do all they can to smear such a candidate.
Such smears are often distractions.
If he is running to win, then he must stay focussed on the things that make him into the winner. That is all that matters on Election Day — “How do I make sure I win?”
That is the question that truly matters and that I need you attentive to with lazer-focus. Most people involved in politics don’t even know the right questions to ask to attain that focus. Literally. Those are closely guarded secrets and great disinformation is spread to make sure would-be-champions of the public never win election and fulfill that goal. So many candidates instead get mired in distraction.
Cross that Election Day hurdle victoriously and you get to be the authority figure who sets those unelected bureaucrats in order. Lose and you are left the outsider they will continue to ridicule as you speak your measly 3 minutes from the podium during public comment.
The truth is, you are an existential risk to them.
More importantly, they are an existential risk to your community.
You know what you need to do.
