I jump out of bed, ready to take on the world. And I really do jump with eagerness and energy. I then bow in prayer. I bow in obedience. I get the focus that the energy needs. Then I go. I go. I go.
On my best days, I come back throughout the day, to regain my focus, to recharge my energy, and by the end of the day, neither focus nor energy seem able to be regained.
One of the great favors I can do myself is to recognize the value of those first few hours of the day and how so much can be done when I recognize that those are special times to do my most important work.
One of the other great favors I can do myself is to recognize the value of those last few hours of the day and how so much can be done when I recognize that those are special times to do my most important resting.
The two should not be confused. The trend can be your friend. One does not always have to fight the prevailing tides of life. One can flow with the prevailing tides of life and to fight what matters with focus and determination. What are the tides of your life? What are the trends of your life? What are those things you are fighting, when the actual outcome of the fight matters so little and enfeebles you for engaging in the fight?
Thank you. This is very helpful for now, today.
