It’s not every day that the heartless Dick Cheney and his evil spawn give up on the party they helped build and announce “Fine. It’s all yours. You can have it.”
But that is what happened today. (Or yesterday 9/6/24 as I wrote this)
Yes, today, Dick and Liz didn’t just let the world know they would not be supporting their party like loyal partisans.
They also didn’t say they would
1.) sit home and not vote or
2.) to simply not vote in the race at the top of the ticket.
In response to the option of voting for the Donald Trump / J.D. Vance / RFK Jr. / Tulsi Gabbard unity ticket or to vote for Democrat partisan hack Kamala Harris, the Cheneys have announced they are now Kamala supporters.
You don’t know what a big deal this is. It’s huge. The lead deep state operative who co-opted whatever good could have come out of the Bush presidency has just packed his bags and left the party.
You see, somewhere, there is a file that said Dick Cheney knew about 9/11 on 9/10. Trump’s latest conviction that he is going to release all the 9/11 files seems to have fallen on the ears of someone who believes him. Also this thing Trump is doing where he is trying to staff his administration with anyone but the neo-cons seems to have hit home.
With this public announcement, we should understand that Trump now has zero protection from the remnants of the George W. Bush White House. Trump has zero protection from the remnants of the George H.W. Bush CIA.
What happened on July 13, 2024 in Butler, Pennsylvania happened with some of that protection ostensibly still in place. The bullet missed. The next time it won’t. Trump is even more at risk than he has ever been.
Do you know what?
Trump doesn’t care. Nor should you. Evil people will do evil things. Unless you are a flaming coward, you live life undeterred by that.
In fact, Trump is behaving recklessly right now when it comes to political diplomacy — reaching out to the powerbrokers. At the same time, he’s behaving very welcoming and careful when it comes to appealing to the independents in the electorate.
Truth be told, Trump is not talking the language I want him to talk. I wish to have my ideological leanings assuaged by my candidate of choice. I’m not getting that from Trump but that’s okay. It’s exciting to see this more unleashed version of Trump.
He’s signaling things that go beyond the on-stage banter of his public performances.
“Lock her up,” is not the red meat that he’s saying to his base, as people chant along and make t-shirts out of it, only for that never to happen. It was part of the show.
Trump is behaving very differently. “Lock him up,” is what he’s signaling to the Dick Cheneys of the world, and likely without many people realizing it. I don’t expect many t-shirts to be made with that slogan. And I don’t particularly expect that to be a popular Republican talking point. 80+% of living Bush voters were Trump voters. They have a soft spot still for Bush and Cheney. It’s not a soft spot like it used to be but it’s not the level of displeasure that someone like me feels for them.
I see how they ruined our country to enrich themselves. They are the money changers in the Temple who consider it their birthright to be there. These are the ones Trump is signaling to with a reckless abandon.
Given this behavior, I am beginning to get the feeling that Trump is going to take it a lot further than he did the first time. Time will tell.
That’s not all.
There’s more from the Cheney camp.
Not only are they refusing to support the top of the ticket, they are refusing to support Ted Cruz in his re-election too, but will instead publicly support his Democrat underdog opponent. There is a notable fight going on in the powerful world of Texas energy. The politics around it is intense and the Cheneys feel the need to support the opponent of Ted Cruz in the Tuesday November 5 election. Ted Cruz is a likely part of the future of the Republican Party. He is a beloved figure for many in Texas. And those who don’t love him often can at least appreciate him. As Texas Republicans try to hang on to their country and state and not let that magnificent state be co-opted by some awful influences, the Cheneys have announced they stand against those efforts. This is probably even bigger than the Cheney Family endorsement of Kamala Harris (music to my ears — there are some people who it is a compliment to be denounced by). Congratulations Ted Cruz. Congratulations Texas.
Liz Cheney presents it as an idealistic decision. No chance. The Cheneys are not an idealistic people.
Today is a victory for Trump and Maga. The one-time pro-peace party, the Republican Party, which opposed both World War One and World War Two has moved even more resolutely to those roots. The forever-war Cheney family have signaled that they see no place in the Republican Party at present nor in its future.
Twenty years ago, I could never have imagined such a thing happening.
This is great news.
This is a victory for the American dinner table, brought to you by the Trump / Kennedy unity ticket.
Thank you to them both.
What a very nice bit of news to receive.
Donald Trump had 3 awesome years (2017, 2018, 2019).
The deep state took him out in 2020, leaving on his record forever the single worst peacetime year in American history.
For the first time, I am left with the belief that he may be able to defeat them in office. They thought they had him beat. Now they are behaving very frightened. Some people who I don’t expect to crawl out of the shadows are behaving very frightened. It’s marvelous to watch.
For the first time I am hearing Trump-fear not just from someone soft and triggerable but from someone established, heartless, comfortable, and confident like Dick Cheney!!!
Ha ha ha ha ha. What a special time to be alive.
Maga with a W. Exciting day. I’ll be celebrating this victory all weekend with a little extra bounce in my step.
This is kind of like November 9, 2016 when I played this song on loop all day everywhere I went.
(I lived in downtown Manhattan at the time. The place was in a state of collective shock and depression for a good two weeks. Playing this song everywhere I went was a lot of fun.)
Had Hillary actually died the day before, I would never have celebrated. Just as when Dick Cheney dies, I will not celebrate. But this political death this week, as Dick Cheney has openly left the Republican Party is a thing for all the world to celebrate.
What a time to be alive.

Music to my ears and significant reasons to celebrate for me too, Allan. 2003 was a very difficult year for me. I was living in Lompoc, CA, where we had a dedicated group with whom I participated in demonstrations against going to war against Iraq. We knew in our Hearts and Souls that there was no legitimate reason for doing that. I was in a relationship with a godly man, a retired Air Force communications guy, who felt it was his duty to support what the American government was going to do. I told him his support for such wrongness was the beginning of the end for us (which it was). I absolutely could not align myself with someone who felt that way. To this day I have substantial difficulty feeling unconditional love for those who unleashed so much suffering and devastation and helped create a horrible terrorist backlash throughout the Middle East. If any justice can come from more revealing of what really happened on 9/11 I will support it 100%.
Sadly, Ted Cruz was born to two Canadians in Canada, so he isn't what Emmerich de Vattel would have considered a natural born citizen, and so, not qualified to be president.
