Reason #113 that Face Masks Hurt Kids

Dear Reader, 

The wearing of a face mask to protect against a respiratory virus is an act of grand deceit. It is a behavior that defies research on the topic. Wearing a face mask, as this article (one of many) points to — is unsafe to do and is ineffective. 

Until the narrative around mandatory masking has changed, each day by 6am Eastern, I will both post here and send out a science-based reason why no one should wear a face mask. 

I ask that you help me circulate these pieces to those around you who you believe could most benefit from them. It is important not to remain silent on this topic. These are important discussions to be having with friends, family members, business owners, healthcare practitioners, public servants, and others in the community.

In the May 8, 2020 article “After Multiple Deaths, Officials Call for No Masks in Gym Class” for Sixth Tone, Zhang Wanqing writes:^¹

“Several education bureaus in China are rethinking Covid-19 control policies after three students died running in masks at school, The Beijing News reported Friday.

“Bureaus in the eastern city of Xiamen, the southern province of Hainan, and the central city of Changsha have issued notices that either discourage schools from requiring students to wear masks during gym class or prohibit the facial accessories during exercise outright.

“‘In light of the recent sudden deaths of students due to running in masks … students should stay at least 1 meter apart and not wear masks during physical education (PE) class,’ Hainan’s education bureau said.

“In late April, just after many schools across China reopened following months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a student from a middle school in Zhoukou, a city in the central Henan province, died after running in PE class while wearing a mask.

“‘The death certificate issued by the hospital said ‘sudden death,’ Li Jian, the father of the deceased child, told domestic publication Health Times. ‘I still did not understand the cause of the sudden death, but I suspected it was from running in a mask…It was sunny that afternoon, the temperature was about 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). How could it be comfortable to run in a mask?’

“The same month, two more students died under similar circumstances in the cities of Wenzhou and Changsha.”

A similar situation took place in Japan. In a May 28, 2021, article “Fifth-grader in Osaka dies after outdoor PE class, may have been wearing mask,” Masaki Takahashi writes:

“OSAKA — A fifth-grader at a municipal elementary school in the city of Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, collapsed during a February physical education class and later died in hospital, it has been learned.

“It is possible the student was wearing a mask for coronavirus prevention at the time. Although the Takatsuki Municipal Board of Education said there is no known causal relationship between the mask and the child's death, it urged all its elementary and junior high schools to thoroughly take care of students' health.

“According to the city education board, the child suddenly collapsed while running on school grounds outside at around 9:05 a.m. on Feb. 18. The teacher in charge and others took them to the school nurse's office and called an ambulance. The child was taken to hospital but died shortly after. It is believed the child was wearing a mask before they started running, but when the teacher rushed to the scene, the child's mask was hanging over their chin.

“The city education board's guidelines do not require students to wear masks during PE but allow students to if they wish. The board says the class was conducted in accordance with the guidelines.”

These are public health problems with justifiable cause for concern. Millions of children in the United States were masked at play after the Ides of March 2020 and continue to be. Do parents not deserve a fully transparent conversation on the three deaths mentioned above? The media will not allow that, social media will not allow that, public health officials will not allow that.

Instead, we are left with a situation in which events, such as these occurring in the United States, and they almost certainly have, are quietly swept under the rug. We are told that there is nothing to see here and to move along.

Obediently, some people do. You and I do not have to be that type of person. Rather than committing to obey illegitimate authority, we can commit to a search for the truth.
